What's Happening? The EQPlayers website recently received a makeover. Within this makeover, a new section was added to the home page. Currently the new section is called
What's Happening?*. The purpose of this section is to give the community a special on what's going on in-game or in the community.
This new section doesn't take the place over news articles but gives us a place to highlight these special features which may include current events, special player/guild highlights, special challenges such as this one, and other game and community related topics that we want to spotlight.
The Challenge: Help us give a name and theme to the What's Happening section of EQPlayers.
Guidelines: To help you decide on your submission, here are a few guidelines to consider.
- Length of the name: The name needs to fit within the size of the placeholder graphic What's Happening?. Try to keep the name around 16 characters long. Note that certain letters like W stretch the limits out further so you'll need to be under 16 if using too many of those types and other letters like l and i give room so you may be able to go a little over 16 characters.
- Theme: Keep the lore surrounding the theme 1 paragraph or under.
- Example:
- Name: Bob's Scale Store
- Theme: A snake name bob run's a store where he sells his scales. Bob frequently shares stories, news, etc from his store.
- No Zatozia: *smiles with an evil grin* While I appreciate you wanting to help me fill the air with torture and hatred, the new section name and theme shouldn't be centered around me… even though the world is mine!
- Lore Limits: In order to make the most of this section, it would be best not to name the section after something that exists in-game unless it's general. Example: Fippy's Section we wouldn't want to use, but Gnoll Section or Blackburrow we might. The main reason for this is so that we won't be limited on things we can and can't include as features for it. You can make up a gnoll name to use for it though.
- Keep it appropriate: As always within the Terms of Service please!
- Note: When selecting the name and theme we may only use part of the names or themes.
Duration: On May 1, 2008 at 10:00 am Pacific Time this challenge will end. The winner will be announced by May 5, 2008. (PDT is -7 GMT: 11:00am MDT, 12:00noon CDT, 1:00pm EDT, 17:00 GMT)
Reward: Based on the number of submissions received, we will determine winners and put them into placement.
- First Place: First Place Winners will receive an In-game Title, Unique Forum Title, an existing illusion item of their choice (we will ask for a list of choices and dependent upon the items chosen we may ask for additional options) and Zatozia's Pail of Chocolate Ice Cream.
- Second Place: Second Place winners will receive Zatozia's Pail of Chocolate Ice Cream.
- Honorable Mentions: Honorable mentions may be chosen to receive recognition only.
Feedback: Feel free to offer your feedback on the submissions of others. We enjoy reading the comments on entries for these challenges just as much as the entries! Just remember to be constructive.
